Malaysia Day Wishes: The Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia has declared that on September 16, 2024, Malaysian residents will celebrate two significant public holidays. The government has declared two vacations because Prophet Muhammad’s birthday and Malaysia Day fall on the same day.
The administration declared a week earlier that no further holidays would be granted because these two fell on the same day. However, to give citizens the benefit of two public holidays, the government has recently made this modification while honouring popular opinion.
Malaysia Day falls on the formation of Malaysia, which will be on 16 September 2024. This is a compulsory public holiday that shall not be varied or replaced by any other day. The birthday of Prophet Muhammad also falls on the same day, declared as a public holiday, but is not compulsory. The option to observe this holiday has been given especially to all employers in the private sector.
The Federation of Malaysia was eventually established on September 16, 1963, which is why September 16 is marked as Malaysia Day. This day marks the union of the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak with the Federation of Malaya, the former British colony of Singapore, to establish the larger federation. But on August 9, 1965, two years after joining the Federation, Singapore declared its independence.
In 2010, Malaysia Day was declared a national holiday. The day was declared a public holiday by former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. On Malaysia Day, there are ceremonial events such as parades that represent the nation’s spirit of freedom and unity. Malaysians commemorate the day to remember their fight for independence.
The Government has taken this step given public demand. This change will provide a longer weekend to the citizens, and the employers were urged to make the necessary arrangements so that all Malaysians can get the benefit of these two big holidays.

On this day, the Federation of Malaya, Singapore, Sabah, and Sarawak united to form the larger federation of Malaysia.
